Sketch of Wooden Bowl
“Interiors” is a new series of paintings depicting subjects found within my current surroundings. The subject/objects within each painting are chosen carefully for their personal significance in connection to both my past and present-day life. I consider these paintings 'sketches' or 'studies' as the plan is for them to grow in scale.
They are a reflection of an internal peace and calm found in quiet, inauspicious moments at home during a time when the external world seemingly offers only the opposite. They are my attempt to absorb and transform external feelings of isolation, grief and loss into work that reminds me of my privilege and profound gratitude for simple moments of brightness within my immediate surroundings.
