Still Here (Yellow)
Begun nearly 30 years ago, these small paintings (tentatively titled “Still Here”), were created using my breath as the primary painting tool. Exhaling onto a lucid, deeply coloured surface, I allowed my breath to push applied paints aside, revealing the brightness of the surface beneath.
The intense contrast between light and dark, as well as the contrast between soft forms and hard lines, are important elements of these paintings. Often resembling stars in the night sky, they are a reflection of an internal world that is simultaneously intimate and universal.
